INDIANAPOLIS — A 32-year-old Indianapolis man was arrested in what IMPD is calling "one of the worst cases of child pornography" the department has ever seen.
According to a social media post from IMPD, Andre Brewer of Indianapolis was arrested Thursday for allegedly possessing "multiple files of child pornography."
Police say the arrest follows an investigation last year after Brewer was arrested for child molestation and exploitation. According to IMPD, when Brewer bonded out following his July 2023 arrest, detectives continued to investigate.
Detectives reportedly seized "multiple" electronic devices belonging to Brewer while brining in the IMPD Digital Forensic Unit and the Indiana Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force to assist with the investigation.
According to online court records, a warrant was issued for Brewer's arrest on March 28. Later that evening, IMPD's Violent Crimes Unit found Brewer at a residence in the 2300 block of Adams Street, which is on Indy's near east side. A SWAT team was called and assisted with his arrest.
“This is one of the worst cases of child pornography I have seen,” said an experienced ICAC detective who worked on the case.
Brewer has been charged with nine counts of possession of child pornography with aggravating factor.
"I want to commend the IMPD officers, detectives, and deputy prosecutors who worked tirelessly on this case to hold this individual accountable for his alleged actions and get him off our streets and behind bars — where he belongs," said IMPD Chief Chris Bailey. "Their dedication and relentless efforts have no doubt safeguarded many more innocent children from harm.”
