INDIANAPOLIS — IMPD is investigating after three people were injured in a shooting on Indianapolis' near south side early Friday.
Shortly before 2:30 a.m. Dec. 22, officers responded to the 2100 block of Shelby Street, just north of East Raymond Street, for a report of a person shot.
There they located one man with a gunshot wound. Two other men with gunshot wounds were found shortly after near the intersection of West Raymond and South Meridian streets. IMPD said detectives believe the three men were injured in the same shooting.
All three men were described by police as "stable" when taken to local hospitals.
"This incident started as a disturbance in the parking lot of a business that quickly escalated into a gun battle," an IMPD spokesperson said in a statement.
Detectives believe the shooting was an "isolated incident" and there is no ongoing threat to the community, the spokesperson said.
No one inside the business was injured, and aggravated assault detectives are continuing to investigate the incident.
