Police: 3 injured in early-morning shootings in Indianapolis

Two shooting incidents were reported just after midnight Jan. 18.

INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis police are investigating separate shootings early Thursday that sent three people to hospitals.

Around 12:10 a.m. Jan. 18, IMPD officers were called to a report of a shooting in the 5000 block of West 71st Street, near Georgetown Road on the city's northwest side. When police arrived, they found two people with apparent gunshot wounds. 

The victims were taken to a hospital. A police department spokesperson said their conditions were not available.

Investigators later determined the shooting happened in the 5900 block of Vicksburg Drive, near West 62nd Street and Moller Road. This is approximately two miles southwest from where the people shot were found.

Just over five minutes later, IMPD officers were sent to the 2900 block of Rolling Dunes Drive, which is northwest of Interstate 465 and Crawfordsville Road on Indianapolis' west side. 

A person with an apparent gunshot wound was transported by ambulance to an area hospital. The victim was said to be "awake and breathing."

There was no immediate indication that the two shooting incidents were related.

Police have not shared information on possible suspects or motives in either incident at this time.
