Coroner identifies 17-year-old killed in east Indianapolis shooting

Officers located the victim around 8 a.m. in the 1400 block of North Gladstone Avenue, near East 16th Street and North Sherman Drive.

INDIANAPOLIS — IMPD homicide detectives are investigating after a person was found dead in a car on Indianapolis' east side Friday morning.

Around 8 a.m. Oct. 13, officers responded to a report of a person shot in the 1400 block of North Gladstone Avenue, near East 16th Street and North Sherman Drive.

Officers located a male inside a car who was pronounced dead at the scene.

On Oct. 17, the Marion County Coroner's Office identified the victim as 17-year-old Daejhan Skipper.

Police said it appears the injuries came from being shot.

An IMPD spokesperson told 13News the homeowner said they came out to get in their car and found a person unresponsive in the driver's seat. The owner then called police.

Police said the owner of the car and the person found dead did not know each other.
