IMPD: 23-year-old woman killed in shooting outside southwest Indy hotel; 'person of interest' released

The shooting was reported around 9 p.m. Wednesday near South Lynhurst Drive and Sam Jones Expressway.

INDIANAPOLIS — IMPD is investigating after a woman was killed in a shooting outside a hotel on Indianapolis' southwest side Wednesday night.

The shooting was reported around 9 p.m. Oct. 16 in the 2600 block of South Lynhurst Drive, near Sam Jones Expressway. 

A department spokesperson said officers responding to a report of a person shot found a woman with a gunshot wound(s) in the parking lot of the hotel. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

On Oct. 17, the Marion County Coroner's Office identified the victim as 23-year-old Chasidy Hahn and ruled her death a homicide.

"What we've been able to find out so is far is there was some type of disturbance in the parking lot and then shots fired rang out," IMPD Capt. Don Weilhamer said.

IMPD officers are investigating a deadly shooting Oct. 16, 2024, in the 2600 block of South Lynhurst Drive.

An IMPD spokesperson said Thursday afternoon that a person of interest "was located and released after a consultation with the (Marion County Prosecutor's Office), pending further investigation."

13News spoke with a man who said he was a guest at the hotel Wednesday night and heard commotion before the shooting.

"Me and my brother were outside chilling, talking, having a conversation when we heard arguing, looked over and heard three shots, and then, the man just pulled off. It's crazy," he said. "They were arguing, and then, he just shot her."
