Howard County jail worker accused of bringing drugs to inmate

Branagan E. Reece, 24, of Kokomo, faces charges of trafficking with an inmate and official misconduct.

KOKOMO, Ind. — A Howard County jail employee is accused of bringing drugs to an inmate.

In late November, detectives with the Howard County Sheriff Office Task Force got an anonymous tip about drugs being trafficked into the Howard County Criminal Justice Center.

Detectives learned a former jail employee, later identified as 24-year-old Branagan E. Reece, of Kokomo, was the suspect. However, she had already been fired for "an unrelated event," according to the sheriff's office.

Detectives spoke with Reece on Dec. 11, which led to her arrest.

Prosecutors charged Reece with trafficking with an inmate and official misconduct. Her initial court hearing is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 15.

Police also arrested 27-year-old Justin Mundy, who is a current inmate at the Howard County Jail. Prosecutors charged him with trafficking with an inmate.

Anyone with additional on the investigation is asked to contact Det. Jacob Gibson or Det. Will Cline at 765-614-3473 or by submitting a tip online.
