INDIANAPOLIS — (NOTE: This story has been updated to reflect an IMPD statement that the death is no longer considered a homicide after further examination.)
IMPD is investigating after a woman was found dead on Indianapolis' near north side early Friday.
Around 2:15 a.m. May 24, IMPD officers responded to the area of North Meridian and East 16th streets on a report of a person down. Officers located an unresponsive 29-year-old female who was pronounced dead at the scene, a department spokesperson said.
An IMPD spokesperson previously stated that detectives were conducting a homicide investigation after the female was examined by a deputy coroner. In an update later Friday, the spokesperson said further examination leads police to no longer consider the incident a homicide.
