'If they are going to fight, then fight' | Guion Creek Elementary teacher charged with neglect after student fight

The MSD of Pike Township told 13News that Reshanda Allen is no longer employed by the district.

INDIANAPOLIS — A teacher at Guion Creek Elementary School is facing two charges of neglect of a dependent after a fight involving two students.

Police were called Feb. 28 to the northwest Indianapolis school for a 9-year-old and a 10-year-old boy who had fought the previous day during recess.

During the fight, one of the children was picked up and slammed to the ground — injuring his head. The child's father said he learned of the fight that evening and took the boy to the emergency room for a large bump on the back of his head.

The father asked the school about it the next day, and that is when police were called.

School security cameras were checked and, according to court documents, teacher Reshanda Allen was on the playground at the time of the fight. She can allegedly be heard telling the students, "If they are going to fight, then fight."

Allen allegedly stood by and watched the fight without attempting to break things up. She's also accused of not notifying school administrators or parents of the students about the fight.

The MSD of Pike Township told 13News that Allen is no longer employed by the district.

A trial date has not yet been set.
