Greenwood Middle School wrestling coach fired after allegedly sending naked photos to student

The district claims it immediately notified law enforcement, and police are investigating.

GREENWOOD, Ind. — 13News learned a Greenwood Middle School coach was terminated after accusations of inappropriate communications with a student were learned.

The district released a statement to 13News saying it became aware of the accusations on Jan. 30.

The district claims it immediately notified law enforcement, and police are investigating.

The coach was terminated on the same day the school learned of the accusations.

"The safety and wellbeing of our students remains our top priority,” the statement read, in part.

Greenwood Police Department officers arrested the coach Tuesday night on charges including child solicitation and distributing material harmful to minors.

The coach is accused of sending nude photos of himself to a female student.

Police say the student went to a school counselor, who then reported it to the school resource officer.

According to the Johnson County Jail, the former coach was both booked and released on Tuesday after paying a $500 cash bond and a $4,000 surety bond.

"I think it's happening way too often these days. It seems like every time you turn around, there's some sort of pedophiling going on in schools, and it's always someone older with girls or boys," said Clayton Savage, whose son goes to Greenwood Middle School.

"I don't understand how anyone thinks that's OK," said Samantha Harlow, whose daughter is in eighth grade at Greenwood Middle School.

Harlow said she's had many conversations with her daughter on what to do if this was to happen to her.

"We let her know if you're ever uncomfortable or you ever have something that is happening that you don't feel safe or comfortable with, to come to us, and she always has. She's always been great with that," Harlow said.
