Greenwood man accused of hiding camera in girlfriend's Henricks County home to record her daughter

The daughter told police she had previously found the boyfriend's cellphone recording in her room after she got out of the shower.

HENDRICKS COUNTY, Indiana — A Greenwood man is accused of hiding a camera in his girlfriend's Hendricks County home to record her daughter.

Police were called to the home after the daughter became suspicious of the smoke detector 48-year-old Jason Nathaniel Mann was allegedly installing in her room.

The daughter claimed she noticed app notifications coming up on Mann's phone as he was hooking the smoke detector up.

The alerts were from a home monitoring app that is motion-activated and begins recording with that motion.

After Mann left the home, the daughter checked the smoke detector and found instruction on it for setup — including how to download the app for monitoring.

The daughter told police she had previously found Mann's cellphone in her room after she got out of the shower. She said it was recording and that she had him delete the video.

According to court documents, Mann had ordered the smoke detector from eBay, and it was described as a "smoke detector fire alarm spy camera hidden nanny cam with a 60 day battery."

At the time this article was published, Mann is facing a felony voyeurism charge, and a warrant is out for his arrest.
