'A great news Pupdate!' | Greenfield PD K-9 released from hospital after being hit by car while chasing suspect

Police said Ace does not have any broken bones but is banged up and bruised.

GREENFIELD, Ind. — A Greenfield police K-9 is now recovering at home after he was struck by a vehicle during a chase Sunday night.

According to a release from the Greenfield Police Department, Officer Caleb Freeman and his K-9 partner Ace were working in the evening June 2 when a driver allegedly committed a traffic infraction on North State Street.

Freeman stopped the 44-year-old driver from Greenfield, who police said showed signs of intoxication.

While waiting for a backup officer to arrive, police said the suspect sped away from the traffic stop, which led to a chase.

Police said the suspect stopped in the 300 block of East Park Avenue and ran on foot.

Freeman then instructed Ace to go after the suspect. Just before Ace could catch the suspect, another car hit Ace on North Spring Street.
