Child grazed with bullet in shooting at near east side home

An IMPD spokesperson said they believe the girl was asleep when the bullet grazed her.

INDIANAPOLIS — IMPD is investigating after a bullet grazed a girl on the city's near east side Monday morning. 

Police were called to the 2500 block of Brookside Avenue near Massachusetts Avenue and East 18th Street just before 4 a.m. on reports of a person shot. 

When officers arrived, they found a girl with a graze wound across her back. 

An IMPD spokesperson said they believe the girl was asleep when the bullet grazed her.

Police said she was transported to Riley Hospital for Children in stable condition.
