Around $30,000 worth of birds stolen from aviary in Frankfort

The Parks Department estimates the damages from the reported theft total around $30,000.

Frankfort police said nine birds were stolen from the Frankfort TPA Park.

FRANKFORT, Ind. — TPA Park in Frankfort was closed Sunday after zookeepers noticed several birds were missing from the aviary. 

According to a Facebook post by the Frankfort Parks Department, early in the morning on June 9, zookeepers arrived at TPA Park for morning feeding when they noticed several birds were missing.

The Frankfort Police Department was alerted to the situation and is conducting an investigation around the reportedly stolen birds. According to the Parks Department, the damages from the stolen birds are estimated to be around $30,000.

Shortly after noon on Thursday, June 13, police asked for help identifying a vehicle that police said was in the area when the bird were stolen.

Police said they'd like to speak with the owner/driver of the blue car seen in the photos.
