FRANKFORT, Ind. — A Frankfort man has been arrested after police say he allegedly attacked an officer, leaving them with minor injuries.
According to a social media post from the Frankfort Police Department, shortly after 11:30 a.m. on March 24, dispatchers received a call about a man "yelling and screaming" inside the sanctuary of Faith Family Church at 508 West Green Street in Franklin.
The man, later identified as 34-year-old Nathaniel Royer, was found by police near Hubbell Street and West Paris Street just a couple blocks south of the church.
According to police, when an officer approached Royer, he attempted to enter the passenger side door of the officer's police car. He then "placed his hand" on the officer's head before being taken to the ground.
Police say that when Royer was placed in handcuffs and being searched, he kicked the officer in the face. Royer was transported to the Clinton County Jail before being taken to a local hospital for further evaluation.
Royer was cleared and then booked into the Clinton County Jail on charges of battery of a public safety officer with injury, resisting law enforcement and public intoxication.
Royer's trial is scheduled for June 24.
