Police: Fort Wayne road rage incident escalates to gunfire

It happened on Maplecrest Road east of downtown Sunday afternoon.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. — Frightening moments as a road rage incident escalates and ends in gunfire on an Indiana road.

It was all captured on another car's dashcam.

The incident happened Sunday afternoon along Maplecrest Road near the intersection of Lake Avenue in Fort Wayne, according to WPTA.

In the video, it starts when a car appears to cut off a red van. Then moments later, the red van does the same thing to the car, nearly crashing before the two cars come to a stop.

Witnesses said that's when the driver of the car gets out and starts beating the other driver, followed by gunshots.

Police say the driver of the van fired several rounds, hitting the other man in the arm. The injuries were called non-critical, according to police.

Another car was hit by bullets while driving past.

According to police, the driver who shot this gun was held on allegations of criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon. The other driver could face battery charges.

Maplecrest Road was shut down for some time as police gathered evidence on the scene.

This incident remains under investigation.
