25-year-old man charged following triple shooting at state park in northern Indiana

ANGOLA, Ind. — A Fort Wayne man is in police custody following a triple shooting at a state park in northern Indiana. 

According to a release from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, around 10:45 p.m. on Saturday, July 6, officers responded to a report of a shooting in the parking lot of Pokagon State Park in Angola. 

When officers arrived, they found a male victim with a gunshot wound to the leg, as well as two other victims, a 38-year-old man and 9-year-old girl. The 38-year-old and the 9-year-old were reportedly injured by bullet fragments. 

Officers immediately apprehended a 25-year-old Maung Okker Aung, of Fort Wayne, in connection with the shooting. Aung was booked at the Steuben County Jail and was formally charged with aggravated battery, battery by means of a deadly weapon, criminal recklessness and battery.

Aung's initial court hearing took place Monday, July 8 at 1 p.m.
