8 former Marion County Sheriff's Office employees charged for overtime theft

All of the suspects allegedly defrauded the agency of an estimated $13,617.34.

INDIANAPOLIS — The Marion County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) announced Friday that eight former employees were charged with overtime theft.

An investigation by MCSO revealed the employees committed overtime theft for work that was never actually performed, police said.

MCSO criminal investigators brought the cases to the Marion County Prosecutor's Office where the evidence resulted in eight former employees being charged: Arielle Pharms, Christopher Clayton, Dorothy Carter, Mariam Adamson-Alvarez, Oluwafemi Osanyin, Tamika Gouch, Tiffany Miller and Jamie Cinevert.

All of the suspects allegedly defrauded the agency of an estimated $13,617.34.

"We hold our employees to the highest standards of integrity and accountability," Marion County Sheriff Kerry Forestal said. "The actions of these individuals are not reflective of the values upheld by the MCSO – as evidenced by their termination and criminal charges.”

Authorities said restitution will be requested as part of the criminal justice process.
