INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - A man was critically wounded in a shooting on the west side of Indianapolis Monday and police are working to apprehend the woman they believe shot him.

Metro police officers initially responded to the firehouse at IFD Station 18 on N. Warman Avenue on a report of a person shot. They arrived to find a man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Officers believe the man had actually been shot in the 300 block of N. Berwick Avenue, just south of W. Michigan Street and N. Tibbs Avenue.

The victim was taken to Eskenazi Health in critical but stable condition.

Police say the female suspect was then driven to a home on Chelsea Street. She is currently alone in that residence, with SWAT officers working to negotiate her surrender.

This story is still developing and will be updated as more details are confirmed.
