INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - The family of one of the victims of a triple homicide over the weekend is still coming to grips with their loss.

“Right now, we are in shock,” said Darrell Miller. “This is just unbelievable.”

The triple homicide happened Sunday in Somerset Lakes Apartments near 79th Street and Keystone Avenue on Indianapolis’ northeast side.

Miller said he got an Eyewitness News push alert on his cell phone about the crime at his brother’s apartment complex.

“When I saw the story break, I had just woke up and I just got up and went...I went to make sure it wasn't him and when I got there, it was,” said Miller.

Police responded to a 911 call reporting shots fired at 6:00 p.m. Sunday. Officers found Dominique Miller, 25, and his two roommates, ages 25 and 19, shot to death.

Darrell had just spoken with Dominique earlier that day.

“We were supposed to go work out and stuff, you know, things that brothers do. I am just heartbroken at this point,” he said.

Metro homicide detectives knocked on doors at the complex, hoping to learn clues from anyone who may have seen or heard anything connected to the shootings. IMPD revealed they have two witnesses in the case.

The victims’ families hope someone is brave enough to help police find the killers as soon as possible.

“Indianapolis is a great city, Hoosiers helping Hoosiers, that's what I grew up on,” said Miller. “If it were your family, you would want someone to call.”

Miller also shared that eventually, they will have to explain the tragedy to his brother’s two young daughters.

The family released the following statement Monday:

The Miller family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and heart felt concern. Dominique Miller's life was tradegiclly cut short. The family is very devastated. Dominique was a father of 2 girls, he was a son, a friend and a brother to many.

We are asking the public to help bring those responsible to justice. Our hearts go out to the other two families who loss loved ones as well.

We will pray for those responsible asking that God will have mercy on them.

"My grandson was a great young man. He was gentle, mellow and a wonderful person. I am going to miss him so please help our family bring them to justice", said Grandma Lee.
