INDIANAPOLIS — An Indianapolis family is calling for justice after their son was shot and killed by a police officer in September.
On Tuesday, the family watched police bodycam video of the incident that led to Eric Taylor's death.
Attorney Stephen Wagner could not reveal what they saw on the video because it hasn't officially been released to the public.
"They have serious questions about what happened," said Wagner, as he stood alongside Taylor's family in the lobby of the City-County Building.
Taylor was shot and killed on the morning of Sept. 19. Officers said Taylor's ex-girlfriend called 911 around 3 a.m. and allegedly told her he was "going to kill them all."
She and her four children left in a vehicle. Taylor allegedly followed. After a short pursuit, officers found him on Portage Terrace, on the south side of Indianapolis.
Police said Taylor got out of his car with a gun in his hand and told police multiple times to "shoot me."
Officers reportedly told Taylor multiple times to drop the gun before one officer fired the bullet that killed him.
"We've had a wake, a burial and now we're dealing with the aftermath of the situation that brought us here," said Shawn Bennett, a pastor and spokesperson for the family.
IMPD said they plan to release the body camera video in a couple of weeks.
