EVANSVILLE, Ind. — An uncle and his nephew were sentenced to a combined 25 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to trafficking meth into southern Indiana.

Michael Jimenez, 37, of Newburgh, Indiana and Jordan Jimenez, 30, of Evansville, Indiana pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute meth. Jordan Jimenez also pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute meth.

According to court documents, between May and July of 2022, Jordan Jimenez would buy pounds of meth from his supplier and front a portion to his uncle, Michael, who would later repay Jordan after selling the meth to his own customers.

Prosecutors said the two men worked together with the same customer base and coordinated drug quantities and prices. They are accused of distributing at least 20 pounds of meth over the course of the operation.

On July 15, 2022, officers with the Evansville Police Department stopped Jordan Jimenez for speeding and a K9 officer alerted police to drugs in the car. Prosecutors said officers found a grocery bag with nearly six pounds of meth inside the car.

A search of Jordan’s home also led officers to discover a semiautomatic pistol, a rifle, ammunition for both firearms and a digital scale.

““The methamphetamine ravaging our families and neighborhoods doesn’t come from thin air,” Zachary A. Myers, U.S. attorney for the Southern District of Indiana, said. “Drug traffickers like the two men convicted in this case bring this poison from thousands of miles away and pump it onto our communities.”

Michael and Jordan received 10 and 15 years in prison, respectively, followed by five years of supervised release.
