East Indy bar can't serve alcohol after deadly mass shooting

During the incident, two off-duty IMPD officers shot and killed the suspect, who shot five other people outside of the bar, including one of the officers.

INDIANAPOLIS — An east Indianapolis bar can no longer serve alcohol after a deadly mass shooting over the weekend.

The Alcohol Tobacco Commission voted Tuesday to not extend the liquor license at 11:11 Bar and Grille in the 1100 block of East Washington Street, near South Post Road.

Police said the shooting happened around 1:30 a.m. Sunday, March 24. During the incident, two off-duty IMPD officers shot and killed the suspect, who shot five other people outside of the bar, including one of the officers.

In the vote to withhold the bar's liquor license, one commission member cited a police report which said the shooting started inside of the establishment.

The commission invited the bar's liquor permit holder to speak on behalf of the business in the meeting, but the person allegedly didn't call the board back.

13News has reached out to 11:11 Bar and Grill to find out if it plans to remain open, but owners have yet to answer.

The bar has been closed since the night of the shooting.
