BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — A federal court filing says a former IU athletics physician refused to answer questions in a recent deposition.

Dr. Brad Bomba Sr. was accused of sexual abuse back in September. During his tenure at IU, Bomba was a contracted IU athletics doctor for several decades. His work with the team ended in the late 1990s.

On Sept. 11, three former IU basketball players filed a lawsuit against the Indiana University Board of Trustees based on their claims of alleged abuse.

Bomba Sr. was disposed in December. In a federal court filing dated Dec. 12, Bomba reportedly exercised his Fifth Amendment right 45 times during the deposition. The Fifth Amendment protects accused individuals from self-incrimination during lawsuits.

A recent filing has asked the court to compel Bomba to answer the questions.
