DELAWARE COUNTY, Indiana — A Delaware County woman is facing charges of reckless homicide and neglect of a dependent after police said her baby died during co-sleeping.

Aaliyah Lykins, of Muncie, is accused in her baby, Addilynn's, death.

According to court documents, police were called to a home on South Shipley Street in Muncie on Oct. 9, 2023.

There, first responders found a 2-week-old girl in cardiac arrest. First responders tried to save Addilynn and rushed her to the hospital, but she later died.

Aaliyah had called 911 and told the operator she had been breastfeeding her baby in bed, according to court documents. She allegedly told EMS responders that she fell asleep while breastfeeding. She also made a statement saying, "Oh no, I did it again," according to EMS personnel.

The prosecutor's office claims Aaliyah was aware of the dangers of co-sleeping as she had a prior child die while co-sleeping. In that case, her 2-month-old son, Aiden, died in 2020 after Aaliyah was co-sleeping with him.

In that instance, she allegedly told Muncie officers she should not have placed Aiden in bed with her and she knew it was wrong.

A warrant for Aaliyah's arrest was served Feb. 26. She has an initial hearing set for the end of March.
