INDIANAPOLIS — IMPD Homicide Detectives are asking for the public's help in locating a suspect for his alleged role in a March homicide on the city's near east side.
Shortly after 2:30 a.m. March 14, officers responded to Methodist Hospital for a report of a walk-in person shot and found a woman with apparent gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead at the hospital, police said.
The Marion County Coroner identified the victim as 31-year-old Candace Patrice Powell.
Detectives determined Powell had been shot in the parking lot of the Marathon gas station in the 1400 block of Prospect Street, near Spruce Street.
According to detectives, someone drove Powell in her own car to the hospital and dropped her off. Police said her vehicle has since been located, recovered and processed; however, the person who dropped Powell off has not been located.
Detectives identified 34-year-old Deandre Rogers, of Indianapolis, as a potential suspect. IMPD released a photo of him on Facebook, which you can find here.
The Marion County Prosecutor's Office issued a warrant for Rogers' arrest on charges of murder, unlawful possession of a firearm by a domestic batterer and unlawful carrying of a handgun due to a felony conviction within the last 15 years.
According to IMPD, Rogers has connections in the areas of Houston, Texas and Atlanta, Georgia. Police said Rogers should be considered armed and dangerous.
Detectives are asking for anyone with information about Rogers' whereabouts or the incident to call 911.
