INDIANAPOLIS — At least 12 people were arrested early Wednesday as part of a DEA-led drug sweep at locations in multiple central Indiana counties.
A DEA spokesperson confirmed the raids have taken place Wednesday, Nov. 20 at approximately 15 locations in four central Indiana counties, including Marion, Hamilton and Johnson counties, with law enforcement serving federal search and arrest warrants.
As of 7:30 a.m., some of those searches remain ongoing.
The spokesperson said the sweep is part of a long-term investigation of a "substantial drug trafficking organization" in central Indiana, which is alleged to have been involved in trafficking large quantities of meth, fentanyl, cocaine and marijuana and has had violence associated with them.
DEA representatives said they could not confirm the specific locations that were being searched but that the U.S. Attorney's Office may later release that information.
The Johnson County Sheriff's Office said members of its SWAT team assisted the DEA in serving federal court orders at a home in the 1500 block of Churchill Street, near 14th and North Main streets in Franklin.
"The Court Orders were executed without incident," the sheriff's office said in a statement.
