INDIANAPOLIS — An Indianapolis man was found guilty for his role in a 2023 shooting at Castleton Square Mall.
Curtis Wilson was convicted Thursday, Feb. 29 on two counts of criminal recklessness for his involvement in a Feb. 17, 2023 shooting at Castleton Square Mall.
According to court documents, on the day of the shooting, Wilson and a group of friends arrived at the mall and encountered a rival group. During the encounter, Wilson grabbed a firearm that was holstered on his brother's hip. He then chased the other group out of the mall, exchanging gunfire in the process.
Wilson was shot in the leg during the incident. He was the only person injured in the shooting.
“We will not tolerate young people acting recklessly and endangering others in public—especially when there are firearms involved,” Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears said. “We are lucky that no one else was injured during this incident. I am thankful for the quick action of law enforcement and the businesses and witnesses that aided in this successful prosecution.”
Wilson is scheduled to be sentenced March 28.
