BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — The 7th Circuit Court of Appeals overturned John Myers appeal in the killing of IU student Jill Behrman. The decision Tuesday overturns a September ruling that ordered Myers to be released.
In June, the court ruled Myers should not be released from prison. His attorneys argued that Myers' medical situation made him especially vulnerable to COVID-19 while living in the group setting of a prison.
Myers is currently serving 65 years for Behrman's murder, which happened in 2003. Myers appealed, claiming his attorney was ineffective and made a long list of mistakes. The decision Tuesday rejected that appeal and upholds Myers' conviction and sentence.
