DELAWARE COUNTY, Ind. — A murderer out on parole is now a suspect in a knife attack on a woman at a Muncie apartment complex.
Muncie officers were called to the 3800 block of North Marleon Drive, near West Bethel Avenue and West McGalliard Road, for a burglary on Tuesday, April 16.
According to police, a woman told them she was returning home and had just walked through her apartment door when 46-year-old Dallas White, of Muncie, confronted her. She said he was holding her kitchen knife and closed the apartment door — locking her boyfriend outside.
The woman told police that White allegedly put his arm around her neck and tried to drag her to the laundry room. She said he used the knife to cut her arm and hand.
The woman told police she was able to escape and ran out the door. She and her boyfriend then hid and called police.
The woman told police she was friends with White, and he had recently been released from prison after serving time for murder.
13News was able to learn White was found guilty of murder in 1997, sentenced to 55 years and served 27 before being released on parole.
Police searched the woman's apartment. They did not find White or the knife he used, but they did find White's cellphone.
White was later arrested for burglary and battery with a deadly weapon.
