Bodies of Connersville man and woman pulled from Fort Wayne river; coroner rules deaths homicides

FORT WAYNE, Ind. — Police in Fort Wayne, Indiana, are investigating after human remains found in a river were identified as a man and woman from Fayette County.

The Allen County Coroner's Office on Monday identified the two people found as 41-year-old Matthew Joseph Johnson and 40-year-old Christina Michelle Dixon, both of Connersville.

Their bodies were found Friday, Sept. 20 in the St. Marys River, near the 400 block of Van Buren Street.

Johnson's cause of death is a gunshot wound and stab wound, while Dixon's cause of death is strangulation and suffocation, the coroner's office said. Both deaths were ruled homicides.
