LAFAYETTE, Ind. — A 39-year-old Chicago man has been arrested for narcotics dealing after being shot in a Lafayette home early Wednesday morning.
According to the Lafayette Police Department, around 1:30 a.m. Feb. 21, officers responded to the 1900 block of Jackson Street, near South and Main streets, on a report of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found the 39-year-old Chicago man suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
During their initial investigation, police said they learned the shooting happened during a drug deal. Police say the Chicago man was allegedly dealing narcotics out of the house.
After getting a search warrant, police said they found two firearms and narcotics inside the home. They also found marijuana.
The man was arrested for possession of marijuana, being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm and dealing in marijuana. He was transported to the Tippecanoe County Jail after receiving treatment for his gunshot wound.
Police said the suspected shooter has not been located and that the investigation is still ongoing.
