Brownsburg man arrested again for impersonating a public servant after pulling woman over

According to court documents, he tailgated a woman for miles before pulling her over and claiming to be a firefighter.

INDIANAPOLIS — According to court records, in 2016, Blake Ayers was found guilty of impersonating a public servant after he put two 15-year-old girls in handcuffs while pretending to be with the FBI.

Fast forward to Sept. 30, 2024, he's accused of pulling a woman over and impersonating an Indianapolis firefighter.

Court documents say Ayers tailgated the woman for several miles until he began flashing his fake emergency lights near 56th Street and Interstate 465 on the west side of Indianapolis.

Once he got her to pull over and stating he worked with the Indianapolis Fire Department, he's then accused of saying that he had authority to pull her over and issue citations.

"People like that obviously gives us a bad name," said Indiana State Police Sgt. John Perrine.

While Perrine can't speak specifically to this incident, he said the only people who can write you a ticket are those with law enforcement.

"There are people who are given law enforcement powers that maybe aren't police officers. You know, people who can issue parking citations, or people who can issue town ordinance violations, but when it comes to state law and most traffic laws, you have to be a sworn police officer," he said.

The court documents say the woman asks Ayers to see his badge in which he shows one around his waist band with the initials AIS.

Brownsburg police would later learn he works for the Indianapolis Airport Authority.

And another thing the woman thought was fishy was Ayers was wearing street clothes.

"So, a police officer can make a traffic stop if they're in plain clothes as long as they're driving a fully marked police vehicle, that has clear markings of the agency they work for. If a police officer is in an unmarked car and in plain clothes, they are not permitted to do a traffic stop unless a serious crime has been committed," said Perrine.

And if you feel like you're going to be pulled over by someone faking to be a member of law enforcement, Perrine says to pull over and call 911.

13News also learned Ayers is on probation for false informing about a fake robbery he claimed to be victim of in 2023. As for if he's an actual firefighter with the city of Indianapolis, IFD tells us he is not.
