BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Bloomington police arrested a man for a deadly shooting Tuesday morning.
Police were called to the 2100 block of South Liberty Drive, near State Road 45 and South Curry Pike, around 6:20 a.m. May 7 on a report of a man found lying in a parking lot.
Officers arrived and confirmed the man was dead and had been shot in the chest. The Monroe County Coroner's Office will identify the victim once family has been notified.
A woman told police she arrived at work and saw the man in the parking lot. She and a co-worker went to check on the man and found him dead.
Investigators then searched the area and found a van nearby with a bullet hole through the windshield.
Officers spoke with a 56-year-old man who was in the van and later arrested him for murder. Police said they found a loaded handgun in his van.
