BEDFORD, Ind. — A man is now in custody after a Saturday morning shooting that left one man dead and another with life-threatening injuries.
Just after 10:30 a.m. on May 18, Lawrence County Sheriff's Department officers responded to a shooting in the 500 block of Sunny Acres Lane, just southeast of Bedford.
Officers arrived on scene and found the two men who had been shot. Johnnie Grubb IV, 44, was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead shortly after. The second victim, a 49-year-old man, was flown to a Louisville hospital with life-threatening injuries.
According to LCSD, there are two men allegedly responsible for the shooting and were both detained just hours after the shooting.
LCSD says both of the men arrived to the scene of the shooting moments before it occurred and got into "some type of disagreement" that ended with one of the suspects pulling out a firearm and shooting multiple times before leaving the scene.
(NOTE: 13News has a policy not to name suspects until formal charges are filed by a prosecutor.)
The Bloomington man who pulled out the firearm was arrested for murder and attempted murder. The other suspect was arrested for an outstanding felony probation warrant and possession of methamphetamine.
