BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Police in Bloomington arrested a woman in a shooting Jan. 9 that left a 52-year-old man dead.
Officers were called to the area of Wheeler Mission on South Westplex Avenueafter receiving a report that a man had been shot. When they arrived, the officers were directed to a wooded area behind the shelter, where they found the victim dead inside a tent.
Witnesses told police they had heard multiple gunshots. On Jan. 10, Bloomington police identified the victim as 52-year-old Curtis Butler, of Bloomington.
On Jan. 19, Bloomington police announced they had arrested a 41-year-old woman in connection with the murder. According to the release from the BPD, the woman had reportedly been in a relationship with the victim. Witnesses told police that they heard the suspect and victim arguing near the victim's tent and that the suspect was holding a revolver during the argument.

The release further states that witnesses told police the suspect raised her revolver above her head, shooting into the air once before lowering the gun and firing multiple rounds into the victim's tent. The suspect then allegedly gathered her belongings and ran.
The woman is currently being held at the Monroe County Jail on a preliminary charge of felony murder.
