MADISON, Wisc. (WTHR) — A bullet fired into a home in Madison, Wisconsin would have hit a toddler, if not for their stuffed baby shark toy.
Police were called Sunday night after someone fired off dozens of rounds into homes and cars in one neighborhood.
A family in one of those homes found a bullet had gone into their toddler's room. That's when they saw a hole in the plush baby shark.
Officer were able to remove a slug from the stuffed toy as evidence.
Tanice, the toddler's mother, told WMTV she felt "lucky" but also scared. She said her 3-year-old was playing with the toy about 30 minutes before falling asleep.
"If the bullet would’ve came a couple more inches, it could’ve targeted her," Tanice said.
Police believe the bullets came from two rival groups firing at each other. Fortunately, no one was injured.
