Armored car robbery leads to chase, crash on Indy's east side; 1 suspect at large

IMPD and Indiana State Police are working to capture a third suspect after a robbery just before 8 a.m. Thursday.

INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis Metro Police and Indiana State Police are searching for a suspect after a Brinks security employee was robbed Thursday morning.

The robbery happened around 8 a.m. Nov. 21 in the 8800 block of Southeastern Avenue, near the intersection with Franklin Road on the southeast side of Indianapolis. When 13News arrived at the scene, the Brinks truck was parked outside of a Chase bank. 

Police say two male suspects robbed a Brinks employee of his personal items. The two suspects got into a car driven by a third suspect.

Police say they started a short chase, which ended when the suspects crashed near the intersection of South Arlington and Julian avenues, just east of Irvington.

Police say the suspects all ran from the scene of the crash. Police used drones and K-9 units to locate two of the three suspects. 

Schools in the area were put on lockdown as police searched for the third suspect. Those lockdowns have been lifted. 

Police have not provided a description of the third suspect. Police have located multiple suspect vehicles.
