ANDERSON (WTHR) - An Anderson father learned his punishment today for murdering a man and then kidnapping his own family.
A judge sentenced Mark Emerson to 86 years in prison.
Prosecutors say Emerson stabbed 25-year-old Cody Gay to death in 2015 after Emerson found Gay with his estranged wife.
Emerson then forced his wife and the couple's three children to come with him to Minnesota.
According to our news gathering partners at The Herald Bulletin, Gay's family was in the courtroom for the sentencing.
The victim's father says he's "happy with the outcome" and hopes Emerson thinks about his son everyday while he sits in his cell.
