INDIANAPOLIS — A 40-year-old man was arrested on an active armed robbery warrant and the illegal possession of a firearm.
On Wednesday, Aug. 7, IMPD Violent Crimes Unit said detectives found the suspect, who was known to have an active warrant out of Marion County for armed robbery.
IMPD said detectives conducted a traffic stop in the 4600 block of Round Lake Road, and the suspect was taken into custody without incident.
During the investigation, police said they learned the vehicle the man was driving was reported stolen days prior.

Detectives obtained a search warrant for the vehicle. During the search, officers said they found a handgun in the front passenger side floorboard of the vehicle.
IMPD said the suspect is considered a "serious violent felon" and is not allowed to have a firearm.
In an interview with police, officers said the man confessed to having the firearm and putting it down in the floorboard of the vehicle before getting out of the vehicle when detectives arrived on scene.
The suspect was arrested on preliminary charges of unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, operating a vehicle while never receiving a license and he was also arrested for his armed robbery warrant.
