INDIANAPOLIS — IMPD announced the arrest of a 31-year-old man for his alleged role in the death of a 23-year-old man on the near northeast side of Indianapolis in November 2022.
Around 12:45 a.m. Nov. 21, 2022, officers responded to the intersection of East 38th Street and North Keystone Avenue for a report of shots fired.
Police searching the area located a man believed to be in his early 20s who appeared to be shot lying in a grassy area near East 38th Street and North Temple Avenue, two blocks east of North Keystone Avenue.
The man was taken to a local hospital in critical condition. Around 1:30 a.m., police said he had died.
The Marion County Coroner's Office identified the victim as 23-year-old Day’eon Raymon Mallory.
More than a year and a half later, IMPD announced the arrest of a suspect in the case.
On June 12, 2024, the Marion County Prosecutor's Office filed charges against 31-year-old Dontae Robinson, of Indianapolis, for murder and unlawful possession of a firearm.
On Friday, June 14, officers with the IMPD Violent Crimes Unit, IMPD SWAT and IMPD K-9 located and took Robinson into custody.
Robinson was ordered to be held at the Community Justice Campus without bond, with an initial hearing scheduled for Tuesday, June 18.
