INDIANAPOLIS — IMPD arrested three teenagers after discovering guns, a machine gun conversion device and narcotics during a traffic stop Thursday night.
The department said north district officers and its Violence Reduction Team pulled over a car near East 46th Street and Shadeland Avenue on Aug. 29 following a traffic infraction.
The officers smelled marijuana when approaching the car and eventually found three guns, including one with a machine gun conversion device, as well as narcotics, including fentanyl, while searching the car.
All three teens – identified as 16-, 17- and 18-year-olds in a police report – face a preliminary charge of possession of marijuana. The 16- and 17-year-olds also face a preliminary charge of dangerous possession of a firearm. The 17-year-old faces a third preliminary charge of possession of narcotics, while the 16-year-old faces a preliminary charge of possession of a machine gun.
The Marion County Prosecutor's Office will make final charging decisions in the case.
