2nd suspect arrested in Beech Grove teen's murder

BEECH GROVE, Ind. (WTHR) — A second suspect has been arrested in the deadly shooting of a 16-year-old earlier this month.

Former Scecina Memorial High School student Xavier Weir was shot and killed around 3 a.m. April 7 in the 400 block of Grovewood Dr. Police said the incident was captured on surveillance cameras.

Isaiha Funez, 16, was arrested on murder and criminal recklessness charges April 11. Now, police say they have also arrested 26-year-old German Parra, an active duty U.S. Army military police sergeant, in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. He serves in Kentucky but police say he also lists an Indianapolis address.

Investigators declined to discuss motive during Tuesday's press conference, but Funez reportedly admitted to investigators when he was arrested that he and Parra went after Weir in retalliation for robbing Funez's brother months before. He also claimed Weir had been threatening him for days.

Even though Funez is a juvenile, he's being charged as an adult.

Officials are working to have Parra extradited back to Marion County to face trial. For now, his next Kentucky court hearing is set for May 24.
