KOKOMO, Ind. — Kokomo police are investigating a deadly shooting that happened Sunday afternoon.
Officers responded to a report of a crash shortly after 3 p.m. May 5 near East Richmond and North Ohio streets.
Police arrived and found a car pinned underneath a parked semi-trailer. According to police, two people inside the car were able to get out safely. However, they told police that the driver was trapped inside the car and had been shot.
Kokomo firefighters responded to the scene and pulled the driver from the car.
Medics transported the driver to Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Kokomo, where he was pronounced dead.
The Howard County Coroner's Office identified the victim as 21-year-old Marshon Burch, of Kokomo. An autopsy is scheduled to determine his manner and cause of death.
Police said the other two people in the car had minor injuries and were uncooperative.
There is no information at this time about a possible suspect or what led up to the shooting.
