ANDERSON, Ind. — Police have found the suspect in a February double shooting in Anderson.
Officers responded to the shooting in the 1200 block of Madison Avenue, near Nichol Avenue, around 4:15 p.m. Feb. 23, Anderson police said in a release. When they arrived on the scene, officers found two victims, a 21-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman, in a vehicle who had been shot.
The male victim was transported to a hospital in Indianapolis in serious condition, police said. The woman was taken to a hospital in Anderson to be treated for minor injuries.
Police later said both victims have been released from the hospital.
Investigators identified the alleged suspect as 29-year-old Shawn Robert Gardner, of Anderson.
Police said Gardner had an active felony warrant for his arrest in connection with shooting and was believed to be armed and dangerous.
On July 23, Police said Gardner was located in the 1600 block of West 10th Street in Anderson. He was taken into custody after a brief standoff.
Madison County Jail records show Gardner was being held Tuesday evening on preliminary charges including attempted murder, battery, criminal recklessness, failure to appear and violation of probation.
