LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Two teenagers were arrested after a shots fired incident in Lafayette Monday morning.
The Lafayette Police Department responded to a report of a shots fired incident in the 2000 block of Meharry Street, near Erie and North 21st streets, around 7:30 a.m. Nov. 4.
When officers arrived, they found a home with "visible bullet impacts."
Police obtained search warrants for homes in the 500 block of South 1st Street and 600 block of South 20th Street. Officers said two 18-year-old men were then arrested.
One of the 18-year-olds was arrested on preliminary charges for conspiracy to commit criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon.
The other 18-year-old was arrested on preliminary charges for criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon for firing into an occupied home.
(13News does not release the identities of suspects until they have been formally charged by prosecutors.)
Police noted that a gun was also seized during the execution of the search warrants.
"This investigation required extensive coordination across multiple units within the Lafayette Police Department and the Tippecanoe County Prosecutors Office," Lafayette Police said in a news release. "The successful arrests and seizure of the firearm were made possible by the dedicated teamwork and collaborative efforts of all LPD units involved."
