1 dead, 1 wounded after shooting on northeast side of Indianapolis

The shooting happened Friday in the 2700 block of Station Street, near East 24th Street and North Sherman Drive, around 3:30 p.m.

INDIANAPOLIS — IMPD is investigating a shooting that killed one person and wounded a second on the northeast side of Indianapolis Friday afternoon.

The shooting happened Oct. 27 around 3:30 p.m. in the 2700 block of Station Street, which is near East 24th Street and North Sherman Drive.

The victim was identified as 22-year-old Xaizer McClain.

No information was giving on the condition of the second person shot.

Andrea Sims told 13News she saw this situation coming.

During visits to her mother-in-law's house, she's noticed a lot of people tend to hang out around this house, she said.

"Anytime when you see a gathering like that every day, something is going to happen," Sims said.

Sims worries that if younger people don't help take care of the community, they could see more of those flashing lights.

"There needs to be something the young people can get into to get that gathering off the street. There's a lot of older people who stay around here," Sims said.

Anyone with additional information on the incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 317-262-8477.
