The shooting happened around 2:45 a.m. Friday in the 1300 block of Mutz Drive, near 10th Street and North Cumberland Road.

INDIANAPOLIS — IMPD is investigating after two people were shot Friday morning on the city's far east side.

Police responded to a report of a person shot in the 1300 block of Mutz Drive, near 10th Street and North Cumberland Road, around 2:45 a.m. March 8.

Officers arrived and found two men who had been shot.

An IMPD officer at the scene told 13News that one of the men who was shot is in critical condition, while the other man's condition is stable.

Neighbors 13News spoke with said a car crashed and hit a mailbox before stopping. They reported that one of the victims was knocking on several doors for help.

“The man ran up on the ground right here and knocked by mailbox down and parked the car right here,” said Tony Romano. “He pounded on the door and was hitting this doorbell.”

Across the street, another neighbor heard the gunshots.

“The five shots were very loud. I got up and looked out the window and my light comes on if anybody passes by but I didn’t see anything. Everything looked quiet and then later I saw the police here,” said the neighbor, who didn’t want to be identified.

Police have not shared information at this time about a possible suspect or motive. They said it’s not clear if the victims shot each other or if someone else was involved.

Anyone with additional information on the incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 317-262-8477.
