2 dead after police chase starts in Pendleton and ends in Anderson

Pendleton officials are taking over the investigation of the fatal vehicle pursuit.

ANDERSON, Ind. — Two people were killed during a police chase Sunday.

According to the Anderson Police Department (APD), shortly before 12:30 p.m. on Oct. 15 the Pendleton Police Department initiated a pursuit that eventually crossed over into Anderson city limits.

The police chase ended when the suspect during the chase crashed into two vehicles near 19th Street and Jackson Street in Anderson. Two of the occupants of one of the crashed vehicles were pronounced dead at the scene.

The other vehicle involved in the crash was carrying six occupants at the time. According to police, four of the six occupants were seriously injured and are currently being treated at an Anderson hospital.

The suspect suffered only minor injuries and was taken into custody where they remain as of Sunday afternoon. 

No further information was provided by APD.
