2 arrested for road rage shooting on I-65 in Whitestown

Whitestown police announced the arrest of a 44-year-old Indianapolis man, who they say was the shooter in the incident, and a 44-year-old Indianapolis woman.

WHITESTOWN, Ind. — Two people have been arrested for a road rage shooting that critically injured a semi driver on Interstate 65 in Whitestown.

The shooting happened July 3 in the northbound lanes of I-65, near the Whitestown exit. Witnesses told police the driver of a vehicle brake-checked multiple semis on the interstate before the shooting. A woman was driving the suspect vehicle, with a man in the passenger seat.

After the shooting, the semi driver who was shot drove off of the interstate, coming to a stop on Perry Worth Road. The victim was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

On Thursday, July 25, Whitestown police announced the arrest of a 44-year-old Indianapolis man, who they say was the shooter in the incident. He has been preliminarily charged with attempted homicide, aggravated battery, criminal recklessness and pointing a firearm.

A 44-year-old Indianapolis woman, who was allegedly driving the suspect vehicle, has been preliminarily charged with aggravated battery, criminal recklessness and reckless driving.

Both suspects are being held at the Boone County Jail.

The IMPD Violent Crimes Task Force assisted Whitestown police in arresting the suspects in the shooting.
