Teenager injured in Kokomo shooting, airlifted to Indianapolis hospital

Police described the teen's condition as "stable" as of Monday morning.

KOKOMO, Ind. — Police in Kokomo are investigating after a teenager was injured in a shooting late Saturday.

Around 10 p.m. Feb. 24, Kokomo Police Department officers responded to the 1400 block of North Lafountain Street, near East North Street and North Apperson Way, for a report of shots fired. 

While searching the area, the officers were called to Community Howard Regional Health hospital for a report of a person with gunshot wounds who had been dropped off.

Police said the victim is a 17-year-old male, who was eventually taken by helicopter to an Indianapolis hospital. His condition was described as "stable" as of Monday morning.

"Also that evening, a suspect vehicle involved in this investigation was stopped by police in the the western part of Howard County," the Kokomo Police Department said in a statement.

No arrests have been made in the case. Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact the Kokomo Police Department at 765-456-7017.
